Cowboys are interested in playing a game in Mexico City, but only under one condition - The Dallas Morning News

Commissioner Roger Goodell held his annual, Super Bowl press conference and announced that the league will return to Mexico City. The NFL will play a regular season game in Estadio Azteca in both 2020 and ’21.

Are the Cowboys interested?

“We’re always interested,’’ executive vice president Stephen Jones said. “Our biggest issue is giving up a home game.’’

The Cowboys have played in Mexico City before, the last coming in ’01 as part of the American Bowl series. But those were preseason games.

Jones said the club is happy to play an international game during the regular season if they are the road team, but has no intention of giving up a game at AT&T Stadium to play on foreign soil. It would cost the franchise too much revenue.

“We have never given up a home game and wouldn’t,’’ Jones said.
