Greg Olsen would consider reuniting with Ron Rivera if he decides to continue playing in 2020, per report - CBS Sports
As of Friday, Greg Olsen has not made a definitive decision on whether or not he will play football in 2020, which would mark his 14th season in the NFL. But if he decides to return for another season, Olsen, according to Mark Maske of the Washington Post, would consider playing for the Redskins. The move would reunite Olsen with his former coach, Ron Rivera, who was hired by the Redskins after parting ways with the Panthers with four weeks remaining in the 2019 regular season.
The report comes a day after Olsen and the Panthers announced that they have mutually parted ways after nine seasons together. Olsen was entering the final year of a contract that was going to pay him a base salary of $6.6 million, according to Spotrac.
The 31st overall pick in the 2007 draft, Olsen developed into a quality starting tight end with the Bears, helping Chicago advance to the NFC Championship Game during his final season with the team. Olsen had even more success with the Panthers, earning three consecutive Pro Bowl selections from 2014-16. Olsen played a pivotal role in the Panthers' run of three straight NFC South division titles from 2011-13. He was also a big part of the Panthers' 2015 team that went 15-1 during the regular season before defeating the Cardinals in the NFC Championship Game.
After missing a combined 16 games during the 2017 and '18 seasons, Olsen, who will turn 35 in March, played in 14 games last season, catching 52 of 82 targets for 597 yards and two touchdowns. In 13 seasons, Olsen has caught 718 passes for 8,444 yards and 59 touchdowns. He is third all-time in Panthers history in receptions (524) and receiving yards (6,463) and fourth in touchdown receptions (39).
While he is expected to have several broadcasting opportunities if he chooses to retire, Olsen, per his written statement upon parting ways with the Panthers, made it clear that he has not ruled out a return to the football field in 2020.
"At this time I have not closed the door on any potential career options," Olsen said. "I still have the love of football in my heart and will explore all opportunities presented to me."
The Redskins can certainly use help at the tight end position after Jordan Reed, a 2016 Pro Bowler, did not play last season after suffering a concussion in the team's third preseason game. If he signed with the Redskins, Olsen would join a receiving corps that includes Terry McLaurin, who caught 58 passes for 919 yards and seven touchdowns during his rookie season. Olsen would also play with second-year quarterback Dwayne Haskins, who threw as many touchdowns (7) as interceptions during his first NFL season.

49ers and Chiefs healthy entering Super Bowl LIV - ESPN
MIAMI -- Barring some sort of setback or incident over the next two days, the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers will have their full complements of players available Sunday for Super Bowl LIV.
Both teams unveiled their final practice reports for the week on Friday afternoon, and neither team had a player with an injury designation of questionable, doubtful or out. In other words, the Chiefs and Niners will be able to pick their 46 active players on game day from their entire 53-man roster.
While things appeared to be trending this way for the Niners and Chiefs, San Francisco entered the week with a little bit of uncertainty, particularly regarding running back Tevin Coleman.
Coleman dislocated his right shoulder in the NFC Championship Game against the Green Bay Packers. In the days after the injury, coach Kyle Shanahan expressed optimism that Coleman would be ready in time for the Super Bowl.
That appears to be the case, as Coleman was limited in practice on Wednesday and Thursday and was upgraded to a full participant on Friday.
"It's a shoulder injury, so there's no issues with his legs and stuff, and he's running very well like he always does when he's healthy," Shanahan said on Wednesday. "So we'll see as the week goes how much the pain tolerance is for his shoulder."
Safety Jaquiski Tartt (ribs) and linebacker Kwon Alexander (pectoral) were also limited in practice Wednesday and Thursday and then upgraded to full participation on Friday. Shanahan said Thursday that he expected all three to be "good to go" against the Chiefs. The 49ers will have a normal walkthrough on Saturday as the last on-field work before Sunday's game.
For the Chiefs, it comes as no surprise that all of their players will be available, as the 53 players have been full participants in practice all week. They listed defensive tackle Chris Jones (calf), tight end Travis Kelce (knee), center Austin Reiter (wrist) and tight end Deon Yelder (Achilles) on their participation report, but all four made it through the week without any setbacks.
Chiefs coach Andy Reid said Friday that Kelce was "moving around pretty good" in the league-issued pool report and indicated that Reid expects to have all four players available against the Niners. Kansas City closes its week of preparation with a walkthrough on Saturday.
Super Bowl LIV kicks off Sunday at 6:30 p.m. ET from Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens.

Kobe Bryant tribute: Lakers honor legend with LeBron James speech, Usher performance, cellist, emotional video - CBS Sports
Kobe Bryant's death has rocked the NBA and city of Los Angeles to its core, and the Lakers as an organization are still grieving the loss of their legend. Fans have flocked to Staples Center by the thousands to pay their respects, and tonight, the Lakers will play their first game since the tragic helicopter crash that killed Bryant, his daughter Gianna and seven others.
The feeling before the game was that of a funeral. The Lakers crafted one of the most touching tributes in the history of professional sports. It started with a performance by Usher, who gave an incredible rendition of Amazing Grace.
Usher's performance was followed by a beautiful video built around some of Bryant's greatest moments and quotes accompanied by cellist Ben Hong.
The moment that truly stood out, though, was the speech that LeBron James gave to end the tribute. In his own words, "Mamba out, but not forgotten."
When the starting lineups were announced, all five Lakers were called Kobe Bryant.
And then, like every other team in the NBA has since Bryant's death, the Lakers and Blazers each committed a 24-second and 8-second violation to open the game.
Before the game, the entire Lakers roster came out wearing Bryant's jersey.
In his memory, the Lakers unveiled a number of tributes before the arena even opened on Friday. The most noticeable is one that they will wear. The Lakers will play Friday, and likely the rest of the season, with the following "KB" patch on their jerseys.
That same insignia has also been emblazoned onto the court at Staples Center ahead of Friday's game.
Additionally, Bryant's two uniform numbers with the Lakers, No. 8 and No. 24, are both on the Staples Center court as well. Both numbers have already been retired by the Lakers.
A number of players leaguewide changed their jersey numbers to honor Bryant after his death. Most of those players wore No. 8 or No. 24 because of him and were unofficially retiring the numbers out of respect. Quinn Cook, who wore No. 2, went in a different direction. He changed to No. 28, a combination of Gianna's No. 2 and Kobe's No. 8, and will wear his new number tonight. Cook grew up a lifelong Lakers fan even before playing for the team.
Last, but certainly not least, the Lakers left the last seats in the Staples Center that Kobe and Gianna Bryant sat in empty, with their jerseys on the chairs.
Tonight's game, and really, the rest of this season, will be defined by Bryant's memory. He was one of the greatest players in both Lakers and NBA history, and the team is doing everything it can to make sure that is never forgotten.

Dana White says Kamaru Usman vs. Jorge Masvidal planned for International Fight Week - MMA Junkie
By: Dave Doyle | January 31, 2020 4:05 pm
If UFC president Dana White has his way, a welterweight title grudge match will be booked for International Fight Week.
Appearing on Friday’s edition of “The Jim Rome Show,” White said the UFC’s plan is to hold a fight featuring the fast-heating grudge between UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman and “BMF” champ Jorge Masvidal at the promotion’s annual International Fight Week event this summer in Las Vegas.
Usman (16-1 MMA, 11-0 UFC) and Masvidal (35-13 MMA, 11-4 UFC) got into a near-altercation this week on Radio Row at the Super Bowl, which is being held this year in Masvidal’s hometown of Miami. White, in talking about Masvidal’s surging popularity, particularly at home, noted that a bout with Usman is probably next.
“We haven’t had a fighter from Miami to embrace yet,” White said. “Since I got here, I went to dinner last night, I’ve been walking around – everybody’s yelling, ‘When’s Masvidal fighting in Miami?’ Not soon. We’re going to bring him to Vegas. Him and Usman will fight in Vegas, probably International Fight Week (in July). If he wins, maybe we’ll do his first title defense down here in Miami.”
The verbal joust between the duo prompted White to publicly state his intentions for the fight now, rather than wait until it was finalized.
“That was the plan, and whatever happened with them (Wednesday) – we hadn’t announced it yet, but now this has forced me to announce it,” White said.
International Fight Week is traditionally one of the biggest events of the year. While no date or location has been announced, it’s likely to be UFC 252 on July 11 at T-Mobile Arena, the home of all major UFC events in “Sin City” since 2016.
White went on to explain that while Masvidal has been around forever, his star recently has exploded, aided in large part by wins over Ben Askren and Nate Diaz.
That Masvidal’s authenticity shines through helps, too, says White.
“People love (Masvidal),” White said. “He’s authentic. He’s real. He’s hardcore. The stuff that went down with Usman, the stuff that went down with (Leon) Edwards – that’s the kind of guy he is. That’s how him and (Nate) Diaz ended up fighting for the ‘BMF’ belt. He’s legit, he’s real, and people feel it, and people like it.”

Dana White confirms Kamaru Usman vs. Jorge Masvidal for International Fight Week - BJPENN.COM
UFC president Dana White has confirmed UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman will fight Jorge Masvidal at International Fight Week in Las Vegas this July.
Usman revealed this week to Joe Rogan that White told him the promotion was looking to set up a fight with Masvidal when Usman is healthy to fight. Usman and Masvidal then got into a verbal altercation in Miami this week ahead of the Super Bowl, furthering speculation a fight could come together.
On Friday, White was on the Jim Rome Show and confirmed that Usman will fight Masvidal in Vegas in early July. He also said that if Masvidal wins the belt, the UFC may do the rematch in Miami. Here’s what the UFC bossman said (h/t Shaun Al-Shatti).

“Dana White on @GamebredFighter: “Him and Usman will fight in Vegas, probably International Fight Week. And then if he wins, maybe we’ll do his first title defense in Miami.” (via the Jim Rome Show)”
When Usman vs. Masvidal takes place it will be one of the most anticipated fights of 2020. Usman is the UFC welterweight champion and is coming off of an epic TKO win over Colby Covington at UFC 245. He is undefeated in the UFC with an 11-0 record inside the Octagon and does not appear to be slowing down anytime soon.
Masvidal, meanwhile, was mostly a gatekeeper throughout his career but he exploded into a superstar in 2019 with three straight stoppage wins over Nate Diaz, Ben Askren, and Darren Till. Now Masvidal is a bonafide superstar, who combines his in-cage skills with his gift of gab to make himself a complete star for the UFC.
Betting odds were previously released for this bout, with Usman a comfortable betting favorite. Now that the fight is nearly official, expect plenty of action to come in on both sides as this will surely be a very popular fight for bettors to place wagers on.
How excited are you to see Kamaru Usman fight Jorge Masvidal?

Lakers' LeBron James reveals new Kobe Bryant tribute tattoo - ESPN
LeBron James revealed his new tattoo in memory of Kobe Bryant on Instagram on Friday.
The tattoo is mostly black, with the main image that of a snake -- a Black Mamba -- entwined around the number 24 and the number 8, with a black rose on the upper left and lower right. Underneath, the caption in script is "Mamba 4 Life."
Bryant, who wore both numbers during his career with the Los Angeles Lakers, was known as the Black Mamba.
The photo on James' Instagram that precedes the photo of the tattoo is from a Team USA practice. It is a black and white photo of James leaning into Bryant.
On Wednesday, tattoo artist Vanessa Aurelia shared video on Instagram showing her work on James' left thigh and teammate Anthony Davis' right thigh.
The Lakers are hosting the Portland Trail Blazers on Friday at Staples Center and will celebrate and grieve Bryant, his daughter Gianna and the seven others who were killed in a helicopter crash on Sunday in Calabasas, California.
Friday will mark the Lakers' first game at Staples since Bryant's death, and James and Davis are expected to make their first public remarks on the death of the Lakers legend.

Manning, who made an appearance at the DirecTV NFL Sunday Ticket Lounge in Miami Beach, Fla., worked with Bryant on the ESPN series “Detail.” The show broke down NBA and NFL games and gave viewers an inside look at what some of the greats in each sport are seeing on the court and on the field.

Jorge Masvidal Has Insightful Revelation After Conversation With Nick Diaz Camp - Essentially Sports
Jorge Masvidal and Nick Diaz have shown interest in fighting each other. Nick appeared on ESPN Helwani’s Show and appeared angry over Masvidal’s comments after the fight. He looked particularly bothered at Masvidal mentioning about baptizing his younger brother Nate Diaz at UFC 244 octagon interview.
Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz came face to face at UFC 244 for the BMF belt inside Madison Square Garden in one of the biggest PPV events of 2019. Masvidal picked up a TKO victory in the third round after a cut on Diaz’s eye rendered him unable to continue after the doctor’s decision. Nick Diaz hinted at a potential return to the octagon after the 5-year ban was lifted. However, it looks unlikely that the two fighters will collide inside the octagon.
Nick Diaz has not come out with any official statement, and his Instagram feed still feels like a retired fighter enjoying with his friends. In a recent interaction with MMA journalist Ariel Helwani, Masvidal revealed shocking details after conversing with Nick Diaz’s manager.
Can Jorge Masvidal and Nick Diaz headline UFC PPV?
Masvidal did not have good news for fight fans. While it isn’t surprising that Nick Diaz vs. Masvidal may not take place, it was an incredible match-up nonetheless.
“Out of pure coincidence and luck, I just spoke with Nick Diaz’s manager. And it was interesting with a lot of different insight because UFC is saying one thing and it’s completely different from what we were hearing,”
Masvidal could be hinting towards potential talks between UFC and Nick Diaz about making the fight happen. He appeared shocked at the interesting insights that he learned after the conversation with Nick Diaz’s manager.
“To hear it now from Nick Diaz’s manager, things make a lot more sense now. UFC was telling us all kinds of crazy things and, I’m not willing to wait for no man. They were telling me this, and that and this … we got options.”
Also: Official: Jorge Masvidal Fights Kamaru Usman For The Welterweight Title in Las Vegas
Masvidal mentions that the exact details of the conversation cannot be revealed at this time. Looking at what Masvidal revealed about the conversation, it looks unlikely that the super fight will take place anytime soon.
What are the chances of Masvidal vs Nick Diaz?
It looks unlikely at the moment. Diaz has shown no interest in returning and doesn’t seem to be back in the gym. Instagram doesn’t say everything, but if Nick Diaz is returning, there is no bigger news for MMA fans.
Masvidal is currently booked to fight Kamaru Usman for the UFC welterweight championship in Las Vegas.

LeBron James reveals his Kobe Bryant 'Mamba 4 life' tattoo - Los Angeles Times
During the five long and painful days since learning of Kobe Bryant’s death, the Lakers have had to confront a difficult question in the midst of their mourning:
How would they honor him in a way that pays proper respect to the legend’s impact on the franchise, the city and the game of basketball as a whole?
Friday afternoon, hours before the Lakers play their first game since Bryant’s death, at 7:30 p.m. against the Portland Trail Blazers, the answers began to be revealed.
The Lakers posted a photo on Twitter of a black circle with the letters “KB” inside of it displayed on the baseline at Staples Center, captioned “The House That Kobe Built.” The Lakers’ home gold uniforms will also feature a patch with the black “KB” logo.
Every fan who enters the building will receive a gold Bryant jersey T-shirt. One side of the arena will wear No. 8; the other will wear No. 24.

The Lakers covered the two seats that Kobe and his daughter, Gianna, occupied the last time they came to Staples Center, when the Lakers played the Dallas Mavericks Dec. 29, with Kobe’s No. 24 jersey and Gianna’s No. 2. They covered the seats with bouquets of red roses.
The names of the nine victims of the helicopter crash are scrolling around the digital banner that envelopes the arena.
Lakers coach Frank Vogel said earlier Friday that he and his assistant coaches will wear Bryant’s signature Nike sneakers.

LeBron James reveals his Kobe Bryant ‘Mamba 4 life’ tattoo
LeBron James’ chiseled physique will now forever carry the memory of Kobe Bryant on his left thigh.

Hours before the Lakers play their first game since Bryant’s death against the Portland Trail Blazers on Friday night, James revealed on his Instagram account a new tattoo honoring Bryant, whom James passed for third place on the NBA’s all-time scoring list Saturday night.
The fresh ink shows a “Black Mamba” snake with a rose, a No. 24 and a No. 8, with the inscription “Mamba 4 Life.”
James also posted a picture of him and Bryant sitting on the bench together as Olympians.
The Lakers tweeted a photo of Bryant’s No. 24 jersey hanging on a wall to the side of James’ locker as he prepared for Friday’s game. James uses the same corner locker space that Bryant used during his time as a player.
Staples Center encouraging fans to stay home if they don’t have tickets
Friday afternoon, Staples Center and L.A. Live president Lee Zeidman posted a tweet asking fans who were planning to congregate at the adjacent XBox Plaza to remember Kobe Bryant before and during the Lakers’ home game against the Portland Trail Blazers to watch from their homes.
As we morn the loss of Kobe & Gianna Bryant PLEASE If u don’t have a ticket 2 tonites game DON’T come down 2 @STAPLESCenter @LALIVE Stay home watch w/ur friends & families & hug ur loved ones as we will NOT be showing it on r screens https://t.co/ouUHMxRyeG
— Lee Zeidman (@LeeZeidman) January 31, 2020
Despite Zeidman’s plea, hundreds of people have gathered and continue to bring flowers and other tokens of their affection, honoring Bryant and the eight others who died in Sunday’s helicopter crash in Calabasas.
The Lakers must know their fans, because they brought out fresh white banners of Bryant for visitors to sign on Friday afternoon.
Ducks pay tribute to Kobe
Anaheim Ducks goaltender John Gibson will wear a Kobe Bryant tribute mask during Friday night’s game against the Tampa Bay Lightning at Honda Center.
The mask features a silhouette of Bryant and his daughter, Gianna, and the names of the seven other victims of Sunday morning’s helicopter crash.

Bodner: For an upgrade like Bogdan Bogdanovic, the Sixers must weigh concerns of future inflexibility - The Athletic
Now 31-18 after Thursday’s road loss to the Hawks, the Sixers sit in the Eastern Conference’s sixth playoff spot. The results are disappointing based on high preseason expectations, but realistically even the second seed is still in play, with the Raptors three and a half games ahead of Philadelphia with 33 games left to play.
The Sixers’ strengths and weaknesses are obvious. They have the NBA’s third-ranked defense, and it should scale well come playoffs — a potentially suffocating combination of length, quickness and instincts.
They also have the 20th-ranked offense. The 76ers lack the shooting to space the floor as well as the dribble-drive skills to get to the rim off the bounce. Their most natural...

Devin Booker, Karl-Anthony Towns, Bradley Beal headline NBA All-Star snubs - Yahoo Sports
With the Thursday announcement of NBA All-Star reserves, the player pool for February’s game is set.
Of course, there are snubs.
Seven players from each conference were added to the player pool of 10 starters already announced. The 14 players announced on Thursday were selected by coaches while starters were chosen by a collective vote of fans, players and media.
Here is the breakdown of players from each conference.
Eastern Conference reserves:
Jimmy Butler (F, Miami Heat), Domantas Sabonis (C, Indiana Pacers), Jayson Tatum (F, Boston Celtics), Ben Simmons (G, Philadelphia 76ers), Khris Middleton (F, Milwaukee Bucks), Kyle Lowry (G, Toronto Raptors), Bam Adebayo (C, Miami Heat)
Western Conference reserves:
Chris Paul (G, Oklahoma City Thunder), Damian Lillard (G, Portland Trail Blazers), Nikola Jokic (C, Denver Nuggets) , Brandon Ingram (F, New Orleans Pelicans), Rudy Gobert (C, Utah Jazz), Russell Westbrook (G, Houston Rockets), Donovan Mitchell (G, Utah Jazz)
Who got snubbed?
There are some glaring omissions. Phoenix Suns guard Devin Booker sits at the top of that list.
The fourth-year Phoenix Suns guard is in the midst of a stellar season, averaging 27.1 points, 6.4 assists and 4.1 rebounds. And this isn’t volume-shooting production. Booker’s hitting a remarkable 51 percent of his field goal attempts as a guard while sinking 36.8 percent of his 3-point attempts.
Suns have improved behind Booker’s lead
He’s lifted the Suns to a 20-27 start while operating mostly without the services of second-year center Deandre Ayton, who served a 25-game banned-substance violation to start the season.
While 20-27 might not sound great on the surface, it’s impressive considering the team’s 19-63 finish last season and that the Suns have gotten there largely without the services of their star second-year center.
Karl-Anthony Towns — Booker’s college teammate at Kentucky — shared his thoughts on Twitter.

KAT left out
Speaking of Towns. The Minnesota Timberwolves center will be absent from the official proceedings in Chicago as well. The two-time All-Star is averaging 26.9 points, 10.7 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 1.2 blocks while hitting a remarkable 3.4 3-point attempts per game at a 41.2 percent clip as a 6-11 center.
Coaches appear to be penalizing Towns for service time as he’s played in 30 of Minnesota’s 47 games. Minnesota’s 15-32 start probably isn’t helping.
Beal’s 28.6 ppg not good enough
In the East, Bradley Beal is off to a scorching start, averaging 28.6 points, 6.3 rebounds and 4.4 rebounds per game while shooting 45.3 percent from the field. But he won’t make his third-straight All-Star appearance.
According to Elias, that would mark the highest scoring average entering an All-Star break in 41 years that didn’t earn an All-Star bid.

“I’m a little pissed off about it,” Beal said after Sunday’s win over the Charlotte Hornets. ... “It’s disrespectful. But the real ones know.”
The Wizards, dealing with a multitude of injury problems, are off to a 16-31 start.
It seems coaches are valuing winning over individual excellence for the All-Star game this year.
So who gets cut, then?
Of course, if we’re calling out snubs, we have to recommend some players to jettison to open up roster spots.
Kyle Lowry’s having another nice season, but he can easily be replaced by Beal as he averages 19.8 points, 7.4 assists and 4.6 rebounds a game while shooting 41 percent from the field.
In the West, it’s tough to omit Chris Paul as he’s helped the Oklahoma City Thunder into surprising playoff contention. But his 17.1 points, 6.5 assists and five rebounds per game pale in comparison to Booker’s line. He’s a legacy selection.
In the post, it’s tough to boot Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert or Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokic, who are both having excellent seasons and have missed a combined two games for two of the West’s top teams.
And coaches probably didn’t want to see Gobert in tears again.

Could Greg Olsen be a fit with Redskins after parting with Panthers? - NBCSports.com
The Carolina Panthers announced on Thursday that the team would be parting ways with veteran tight end Greg Olsen after nine seasons.

When it comes to what's next for Olsen, there are options other than football available. During the past few seasons, when Olsen suffered multiple injuries, he spent time in the broadcasting booth calling NFL games. Now, without a team, the soon-to-be 35-year-old could have opted for the profession full time. However, a statement from Olsen explained that he is determined to continue his playing career in 2020.
"At this time I have not closed the door on any potential career options," he said in the statement posted to Twitter. "I still have the love of football in my heart and will explore all opportunities presented to me."

ESPN's Adam Schefter also reported that Olsen's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, explained that he "will be in communication with other teams after the Super Bowl.”
All signs point to the 13-year NFL veteran being on the lookout for a new team. Playing 14 games in 2019 and catching 52 passes for 597 yards and two touchdowns, Olsen can still be a serviceable target while providing a solid locker room presence for plenty of teams. Could the Redskins be one of them? There are a couple of reasons to think yes.
The first is Olsen's relationship and history with new Redskins head coach Ron Rivera. Rivera, who Olsen thanked in his tweet, was the head coach in Carolina for Olsen's entire tenure besides the last few games in 2019 after Rivera was fired. The two came into the Panthers organization together in 2011 and spent nine seasons working together through ups and downs. Having built a strong bond, Olsen has expressed nothing but love for his former head coach.
After it was announced that Rivera would be heading to Washington, Olsen told reporters that he believed it was a perfect fit. Relating the Redskins situation with Dwayne Haskins to Rivera's beginning in Carolina with Cam Newton, Olsen felt there was no one better to take on a young team with a growing quarterback.
"Ron is the guy for that type of job," Olsen said. "I think you could put him in a lot of different circumstances and he'll do a good job."
Olsen may want to look for a team that is considered closer to contending for a Super Bowl, but heading to a place where he knows the guy in charge may be appealing as well.
While that could be enough for Olsen to want the Redskins, the Redskins need to want Olsen as well. Looking at the tight end situation in Washington, the reliable pass-catcher could play a role.
Entering 2020, there are is no sure bets as to who will man that position for the Redskins. In 2019, Jordan Reed and Vernon Davis played a combined four games due to injuries. Reed, though as talented as anybody when on the field, has had a hard time staying on it. With a history of injuries, there have even been reports that the tight end's career could be in jeopardy.
As for Davis, the veteran is a free agent entering his age-36 season. His ability to keep himself healthy has allowed him to continue to be a useful option in the passing game in recent years, but that wasn't the case last season. There's no guarantee he's back in Washington come 2020.
With that, the Redskins are in need of a versatile and explosive tight end target for Dwayne Haskins to look to. Olsen may not be that, but he could play the reliable, veteran role Davis held. Injuries in 2017 and 2018 limited his time on the field, but Olsen was able to appear in 14 games in 2019. If he can stay healthy, he has the ability to produce on the field and take a leadership position in a young locker room.
Olsen and the Redskins may never happen, and there are a lot of "ifs" in the equation. But, there is potential if the two sides want to explore the option.
