The San Francisco 49ers had reportedly looked into screening this Sunday’s Super Bowl LIV at the Earthquakes Stadium in San Jose, but the NFL squashed the idea.
NFL officials cited a negative impact on TV ratings as the reasoning, according to the Daily Mail.
Earthquakes Stadium is home to major league soccer team the San Jose Earthquakes. The northeast end of the sports complex houses North America’s longest outdoor bar.
The NFL did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Levi’s Stadium, the home of the 49ers, hosted viewing parties for both the divisional game and the NFC Championship.
