Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James finally surpassed Kobe Bryant for the third spot on the NBA’s all-time scoring list, and the rest of the league celebrated with him after achieving such important milestone.
LeBron broke Kobe’s record on Saturday against the Philadelphia 76ers. Needing just 18 points to move past the Black Mamba’s 33,643 points entering the game, James reached the required mark in the third quarter of the game.
Sure enough, former and current NBA players quickly reacted to the impressive feat, with most of them taking to Twitter to congratulate The King.

While the Lakers ended up losing, 108-91, LeBron still impressed with 29 points, seven rebounds and eight assists. In fact, he was so dominant that some players even believe he has the chance to make it to the top of the scoring list and exceed the scoring marks of Karl Malone (36,928) and and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (38,387).
Bron going to pass Kareem that’s going to be dope if it happens

Bron #3 all time in scoring. Damn. He’ll be #1 before he’s done. Respect.

Interestingly, however, retired NBA player Glen “Big Baby” Davis has mixed feelings about LeBron’s achievement. While he is happy with the milestone, Davis said that he wants to see James win against Kawhi Leonard and the Los Angeles Clippers.
Shoutout to LeBron @KingJames . That’s great you pass Kobe today, but I need you to be great against Kawhi 👀. I need you to accept the challenge for real . Clippers bust y’all ass everytime . @Lakers @NBA @NBAonTNT @ESPNNBA @YahooSportsNBA @InsideHoops @RTNBA @BR_NBA

Former Lakers president Magic Johnson also took to Twitter to show his admiration for James. In fact, he even called LeBron a “Laker great.”
Kobe Bryant, himself, also reacted to The King’s historic feat and showed his respect to the 35-year-old forward.
Continuing to move the game forward @KingJames. Much respect my brother 💪🏾 #33644

In March of last year, LeBron passed Michael Jordan for fourth all-time on the scoring list. Less than a year later, he moved up a spot once again, proving how dominant he has been in his 17 years in the NBA.
While LeBron James is still a bit far from the second spot, it is likely that he’ll be able to take Malone’s position by next season. It remains to be seen, however, if he can match Kareem’s record.
