Baylor QB Charlie Brewer knocked out of Sugar Bowl after late hit - ESPN

NEW ORLEANS -- Baylor quarterback Charlie Brewer was knocked out of Wednesday's Allstate Sugar Bowl following a late hit by Georgia defensive lineman Travon Walker.

Brewer was on the ground for several minutes after he was hit running along the sideline, and he was surrounded by athletic trainers. He was eventually helped to his feet and taken to the locker room on the back of a golf cart.

Baylor coach Matt Rhule said following a 26-14 loss that doctors were checking Brewer for a possible neck injury, but that he was not exhibiting head trauma.

Walker was flagged for the late hit and Georgia was penalized 15 yards. Baylor trailed 26-14 at the time of Brewer's injury midway through the fourth quarter.

Brewer sustained a concussion that knocked him out of the Big 12 championship game against Oklahoma last month. He had told ESPN before the Sugar Bowl that after he sustained the concussion on Dec. 7, spent about a week in a dark room, and didn't remember much about it.

He was previously listed in concussion protocol in 2018.
