Oklahoma found a second gear during Saturday's come-from-behind win at Baylor, a season-saver against a previously unbeaten team that will alter the narrative in the eyes of the College Football Playoff selection committee.
Lincoln Riley challenged his team to use the victory as a springboard down the stretch in a search of their third straight final four appearance as the Big 12 champion — but they've got to get there first.
“We’ve developed some toughness and I think have come together in maybe a little bit different way as a team over the last several weeks,” Riley said. “And, I mean, it sets the stage to go play well here at the end, but we still have to go do it. The momentum of winning a game like that is great, but it’s not going to be enough to beat TCU. I mean, you’ve got to go put it into action.
“And so the things that we did well as a team, the mentality of the team, you want that to continue and grow, and then some of the things that we didn’t do well that caused us to be in a hole in the first place we’re certainly going to have to do better. So it’s exciting, but we’ve got to go do something with it, and that’ll be our message to the guys.”
