LSU had a phenomenal performance in the final 30 seconds of the first half against Alabama on Saturday and entered halftime with a 33-13 lead.
On the road in Tuscaloosa for a highly anticipated matchup the No. 2 and No. 3 team in the College Football Playoff rankings, the Tigers were on the right side of a controversial call on the one-yard line late in the second half and were already up, 19-13.
Enter running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire, who stunningly soared over LSU’s offensive line and the Crimson Tide defense into the end zone on 3rd-and-goal for a one-yard touchdown with 26 seconds left in the half. It was basically a barrel roll, and with the good extra kick, LSU took a commanding 26-13 lead.

But the Tigers just kept torturing Alabama. With 11 seconds left on the Crimson Tide’s own 29, linebacker Patrick Queen picked off quarterback Tua Tagovailoa on the first play of Alabama’s drive, handing LSU another chance to score before the break. And it did thanks, again, to Edwards-Helaire.

LSU quarterback Joe Burrow connected with Edwards-Helaire just as the running back crossed the goal line for a 13-yard touchdown catch with just six seconds left in the half. In a matter of seconds, the Tigers went from having only a six-point lead to 20-point advantage at the half.
