Peyton Manning's 'drop the mic' Eli Manning Hall of Fame case - New York Post

Peyton Manning looked to “drop the mic” on the debate of whether little brother Eli, who retired on Friday after 16 seasons with the Giants, is deserving of the Hall of Fame.

The former Colts and Broncos quarterback, whose first year of eligibility for Canton is 2021, did not attend the Giants’ ceremony for his brother. Speaking to the Broncos’ website, he doesn’t think there is much debate at all about about if Eli belongs in the Hall.

“I certainly have my strong feelings and opinions on it,” Peyton said. “When you’re the Super Bowl MVP twice against the greatest dynasty of all-time, the New England Patriots, Tom Brady/Bill Belichick, and you join a list that includes Terry Bradshaw, Bart Starr, Tom Brady and Joe Montana, Eli Manning as the only [multiple] Super Bowl MVPs. I don’t really know what that term, ‘drop the mic’ is, but I guess if there was one. … There really is no ‘yeah, but’ after that. That kind of ends it.”

He went on to note Eli’s 210-game consecutive starts streak and being seventh on the NFL’s all-time touchdown pass list.

“It wasn’t like he just played those two [Super Bowl] seasons,” Peyton said. “He answered the bell, played his butt off, won some huge games for his team.”
