For two-and-a-half quarters, the Texans were toast. They couldn't block the Bills up front. Deshaun Watson was getting crushed. They couldn't tackle the Bills in space and failed to capitalized on the chance Josh Allen gave them early on for a game-changing pick-six. For two-and-a-half quarters, the Texans were doing what they always do come January: look unworthy of the playoffs, serve as the sacrificial lamb for another team, and appear to be grossly incompetent.
Midway through the third quarter, the Texans trailed 16-0. And then Deshaun Watson willed them back into the game and eventually, over the finish line. The Texans ripped off 19 unanswered points in the second half before finally putting away the Bills for good in overtime after Watson made one of his trademark magician-like escapes to put Ka'imi Fairbairn in a position to end the game with a short field goal -- and to steal a playoff win over a Bills team that came excruciatingly close to capturing their first playoff win since 1995.
The final score? 22-19.
