Monday Night Football 2019: Where to Watch Dallas Cowboys vs. New York Giants, TV Channel, Live Stream, Odds - Newsweek

An all-NFC East rivalry wraps up Week 9 of the NFL season when the New York Giants host the Dallas Cowboys on Monday Night Football.

The two teams arrive into the game in contrasting moods. Dallas went into their bye last week after snapping a three-game losing streak with a win over the Philadelphia Eagles, which put it in control of the division.

After jumping out of the blocks to a 3-0 start, the Cowboys found themselves 3-3 but the win over the Eagles was a step in the right direction and suggested Jason Garrett and his players may have weathered the storm.

A second consecutive win over a divisional rival would build some much-needed momentum ahead of a difficult three-game stretch, which includes a home game against the in-form Minnesota Vikings and back-to-back trips to Detroit and New England.

Garrett suggested the bye had come at the perfect time for his team.

"It gives everyone a chance to kind of get out of the rhythm of the season for a little bit in a good way," the Cowboys coach said in his press conference this week. "And hopefully get some time off and come back next week refreshed and ready to go, reset, recharged and excited for the next challenge. [The bye is] a chance for all of us to take a little bit of a breath."

The Giants, meanwhile, lost their fourth game in a row with a 31-26 defeat on the road against the Lions and are now 2-6. After trading Odell Beckham to Cleveland and losing Landon Collins in free agency, the Giants were expected to struggle this season and that forecast has so far proved accurate.

Both the Cowboys and the Giants were active ahead of the trade deadline, but their respective deals were met with contrasting reactions.

Dallas bolstered its defensive options by acquiring Michael Bennett from the New England Patriots in exchange for a 2021 seventh-round pick, but missed out on Jamal Adams.

ESPN reported Dallas strongly pursued a deal for the Jets safety, a Texas native who was understood to be eager to play for the Cowboys, but could not get a deal over the line.

The Giants, on the other hand, managed to complete a trade with the Jets, but the trade for defensive lineman Leonard Williams is the latest move by Giants general manager Dave Gettleman to leave observers perplexed.

The Giants sent a 2020 third-round pick and a conditional 2021 fourth- or fifth-round pick across New York in exchange for Williams.

While the 25-year-old should improve New York's interior defense, he is due to make $14.2 million next season and it remains to be seen whether the Giants will be prepared to commit that amount of money on Williams in the offseason.

New York will be hoping Williams can make an immediate impact on Monday, after its defense was torched 35-17 when the two teams met in Week 1, when Dak Prescott passed 405 yards with four touchdowns and zero interceptions for a 158.3 passer rating, the highest attainable mark.

A similar performance on Monday night and the three defeats in a row will be just a distant memory.
