College GameDay predictions for LSU vs. Bama - 247Sports

The biggest game of the college football season has arrived.

ESPN's College Gameday is live from Tuscaloosa, Alabama on Saturday for the SEC's biggest matchup of the season, with unbeaten LSU vs. unbeaten Alabama for the driver's seat in the SEC West race to Atlanta and a prime position for the College Football Playoffs.

The ESPN crew made their predictions to close out Saturday morning's show, and here's what they had to say about the game, which included guest picker and Alabama graduate Justin Thomas.

David Pollack: "If not now, then when for LSU? Why not. LSU has lost eight straight to Alabama. Joe Burrow and that offense stays on the field and wears out that defense and makes enough plays, and LSU wins the ball game."

Desmond Howard: "I still have to go with the Tigers. I am going LSU. I just don't know about Tua."

Lee Corso: "LSU feels no respect. They are a six-point underdog to No. 3 Alabama. This is strictly business. I picked Alabama in preseason to win it all. That was then. This is now. Give me the Tigers."

Justin Thomas: "I'm going Alabama all day and all night. Alabama."

Kirk Herbstreit: "This is a coin flip for me. I have loved LSU all year long. But with Alabama with two weeks to prepare, that could be the difference. I am going with Alabama."

Chris "The Bear" Fallica, who offers up his gambling advice in each episode, picked the Tide to cover the -6 point spread.

Earlier in the show, the crew touched on a number of topics surrounding the game, including the status of Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.

"I don't think there's any question Tua is playing in this football game and we'll wait and see how effective he'll be," Herbstreit said. "The matchup to me is Alabama vs. LSU in man to man coverage. LSU hasn't been challenged like this all season. Alabama leads the nation in yards after the catch. Something to watch is how LSU holds up in those man to man situations.

"Alabama at home with that defense is obviously a great challenge, but this is Alabama's first true test since the national championship vs. Clemson."

Added Corso: "It's a rare weekend in November when four unbeaten teams are playing each other, a combined 32-0.This game is two great teams matched up against each other with the President watching."

Howard circled the new-look LSU offense as a key to the Tigers' chances of knocking off the Tide for the first time since November 2011.
